Veneto-Lombardy-Emilia: here is the triangle of recovery

Corriere del Veneto / by Gian Maria Collicelli

The goal is “to bring the real economy, territories, and industry back into the spotlight.”

And to do so, they are aiming to attract to Vicenza, the venue of the three-day event dedicated to the event, prominent names from the national scene, including Corriere della Sera editor Luciano Fontana, ISTAT (National Institute of Statistics) president Giovanni Alleva, Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono; but also jurist Sabino Cassese and former commissioner for public spending review Carlo Cottarelli. In short, some of the faces of the elite of the Italian economy and society.

All this is the “Enterprise City Festival,” now in its 11th edition and returning to Vicenza with its spring billboard, scheduled for next Friday through Sunday. The theme at the center of the festival is “The Recovery of Districts and the Industrial Triangle,” referring, by this, to the development of the Lombardy-Veneto-Emilia Romagna economic axis. “We want to bring attention back to the real world,” says the festival’s director, Dario Di Vico, a Corriere della Sera byline, “to the economy and the needs of this country, at a time when all the spotlights are on the national political scene. The setting will be that of the city of Palladio, where all the meetings – with free admission – and debates scheduled on the program schedule will be held. Which is rich: the festival will open on Friday with the speech by the Ad d Fincantieri, Giuseppe Bono, in discussion with the chief economist of Intesa San Paolo, Gregorio De Felice, on the theme “The recovery of the districts and the ambitions of Italian industry” (10 a.m., Gallerie d’Italia in Palazzo Leoni Montanari). That same morning also includes space for a lectio magistralis by jurist Sabino Cassese on “State and Business. Where bureaucratic bottlenecks originate,” the focus of the debate moderated by the director of Corriere del Veneto , Alessandro Russello, and also attended by the president of Confindustria Vicenza, Luciano Vescovi, and the president of Cna (National Confederation of Craftsmen), Daniele Vaccarino (11:45 a.m., Olympic Theater). Other events to note include the discussion between Cottarelli, De Felice and the chief economist of Confindustria, Andrea Montanino, on “Italy’s budget and the report card from Brussels: taxes, spending review and investments” (Friday, 4:30 p.m., Palazzo Bonin Longare), as well as the meeting between the president of Istat and young people on the theme “The numbers of work” (Saturday, 10 a.m., Olympic theater). Finally, the final event, as per tradition in a cultural key: playwright Stefano Massini will give a reading on the Olimpico stage on “Predicting the Economy, Interpreting Dreams. From Lehman to Freud” (Sunday, 5 p.m.). For info and reservations: www.festivalcittaimpresa.it.
