Analyze the economic recovery and ambitions of Italian industry;reflect on the major trade flows through northern Italy; ask how territories can be attractive.
These are just some of the goals of the 11th edition of the Enterprise City Festival, which kicks off today with a series of meetings in the city. This year the initiative, directed by Corriere della sera journalist Dario Di Vico, will turn the spotlight precisely on the theme of economic recovery, particularly in the triangle between Veneto, Emilia and Lombardy. One of the main purposes will be to bring attention back to the real economy and the contribution of industry to the welfare of the territory. Precisely to reflect on the close relationship that binds companies to the place where they operate and to the people who live in that same area, Confindustria Vicenza, as part of the festival, has organized the meeting “Fabricating Values: business and the paradigm shift,” scheduled tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the headquarters of Palazzo Bonin Longare. The debate among experts, which will be introduced by Confindustria Vicenza President Luciano Vescovi, will focus on the new project of the Berici industrialists, “Fabbricare valori: persona, impresa, territorio.” The event, which will build on the presentation of Mauro Magatti’s book “Paradigm Change. Exiting the crisis by thinking about the future,” will feature Roberto Antonietti, professor of economics of innovation at the University of Padua; Giovanni Bonotto, Bonotto creative director and member of the advisory board Fabbricare valori; and Gabriele Lendaro, sustainability manager of Fabbrica italiana sintetici. The meeting will be moderated by Riccardo Bonacina, president and editorial director of Vita. Also tomorrow, at 10 a.m. at Palazzo Leoni Montanari, is the conference “4.0 on a small scale,” organized by Cna Vicenza: speakers will analyze the relationship of companies with new digital technologies, the results gathered by those who have chosen to innovate and the difficulties for companies. Today’s day will be opened, at 10 a.m. at the Gallerie d’Italia in Palazzo Leoni Montanari, by Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono, who will offer some insights into economic recovery in Italian districts. This will be followed at 11:30 a.m. at the Olympic Theater by jurist Sabino Cassese’s lectio magistralis on the relationship between bureaucracy and business. Discussing the topic will be Confindustria Vicenza President Luciano Vescovi, Cna National President Daniele Vaccarino and Giovanni Costa, director of Intesa San Paolo. In the afternoon, at 3 p.m. also at the Olimpico, Federmeccanica president Alberto Dal Poz will speak to reflect on the key word “commitment” and propose a decalogue formulated by the association. Experts will compare, also in the afternoon, on managers and family businesses, while the topics of Italy’s budget and Brussels report card will also be touched upon, including taxes, spending review and investments. A focus will be offered on relations between businesses and the world of education. Palazzo Trissino, will host, instead, from 4:30 p.m., a debate between the mayors of Piacenza Patrizia Barbieri, Bergamo Giorgio Gori and Vicenza Achille Variati. In the meeting, moderated by Journal of Vicenza editor Luca Ancetti, the first citizens will discuss how territories can be made attractive. Also returning to the festival is the theme of the “great A4 region,” around which the analysis of the major flows through northern Italy will revolve.
Among the speakers, who will address the topic from 4:30 p.m. at Palazzo Chiericati, will be Atlantia CEO Giovanni Castellucci and Italo CEO Flavio Cattaneo, for a reflection on the country’s infrastructure. Digital innovation will also be among the topics discussed during the day. In particular, at 6 p.m., at Palazzo Bonin Longare, the meeting “Towards the smart factory: big data changes organizations” is scheduled, while at the same time at Palazzo Trissino, techies will ask whether digital will help transform small and medium-sized enterprises. Finally, the challenges of made in Italy will be the focus of the evening event scheduled at 9 p.m. at the Olympic Theater, featuring Eataly executive chairman Andrea Guerra. The festival’s events, some of which are already sold out, are free; in any case, registration is recommended.
