The Enterprise City Festival: there is more recovery than meets the eye

Corriere della Sera / by Francesca Basso.

There is more recovery than meets the eye. The numbers say so. Data on industrial districts tell of growth twice that of Italy:

A performance of more than 2 percent is expected for this year and 2018, driven by foreign markets and supported by domestic demand. Among the best districts are those in the Northeast. This is the starting point for the tenth edition of the “Festival Città Impresa”, which will be hosted in Vicenza from March 31 to April 2. The event directed by Dario Di Vico, will develop several thematic strands. The center is the tale of the Turin-Milan-Northeast axis, which seeks to reason about how the Venices relate to Milan’s extraordinary growth and its role as a showcase for services and a rebound for the most innovative manufacturing, which it has in Europe and the world. The first day will address the crucial issues of Europe’s role in a meeting with the president of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, and the difficult balances of geopolitics in a debate with Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi. Banking will also be discussed with Ferruccio de Bortoli and Luigi Zingales. The second day, on the other hand, will have as its guest speaker Infrastructure Minister Graziano Delrio, who will be called to discuss the key issue of the “Po Valley platform,” the system consisting of high-speed rail, Smfr (the “metro” of central Veneto), highways and ports. Another thematic strand is Industry 4.0, analyzed from different aspects: from Italy’s supply of robots, to the relationship with labor and the resulting industrial policy consequences for the country. The effects of globalization and populism will also be discussed with Giuseppe De Rita, Maurizio Landini and Tommaso Nannicini. And capitalism and investment (on the third day) with Gregorio De Felice and Fabio Storchi. Then there will be a discussion between some mayors: Chiara Appendino, Giorgio Gori and Achille Variati. The Festival – promoted by the publishing platform VeneziePost and the Municipality of Vicenza with the collaboration of the “Corriere” Foundation – will also see the participation of Raffaele Cantone, president of Anac.
