Northeastern recovery between bureaucracy and labor

The Northeast’s recovery, with the spotlight on the real economy. This will be the theme of the 11th Festival Città Impresa, scheduled in the city from Friday to Sunday. In particular, through more than 30 meetings, the new Veneto-Emilia-Lombardy development triangle will be taken stock of.

“There is a lot of talk these days about difficult government balances and European constraints,” explained festival director Dario Di Vico. “However, no one talks about the real economy; yet there is an ‘underlying’ to politics that proves important. In addition to local goals, there is therefore the task of bringing the real economy and its trends to the center of attention.” The Corriere della sera journalist presented the event at Palazzo Chiericati with ItalyPost founder Filiberto Zovico and deputy mayor Jacopo Bulgarini d’Elci. Employment recovery, new businesses, the debate over whether the Northeast’s restart speaks Chinese or German: these, Di Vico explained, are current trends in the real economy. Not to mention the short-circuit between labor supply and demand according to which, despite 38 percent youth unemployment, companies are struggling to find technicians to hire. “Vicenza has always been at the center of a dense network of trade over the centuries,” Bulgarini d’Elci stressed, “which is why I welcome the event again this year. The festival is promoted by ItalyPost, Department of Economic and Business Sciences “Marco Fanno” of the University of Padua and the Municipality of Vicenza with the European Commission and the Corriere della sera Foundation and main partners Intesa San Paolo and Cassa di risparmio del Veneto. Prominent among the guests are two managers at the helm of Italian companies that have distinguished themselves by making acquisitions abroad: Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, and Giovanni Castellucci, CEO of Atlantia. Companies whose hearts beat in the Northeast, whose presence at the festival tells of the ambitions of Italian industry. It could not miss a reflection on the relationship between state and business, with the lectio magistralis of jurist Sabino Cassese. The theme of the “great A4 region” also returns, for a reasoning on the need for northern Italian flows to be managed prospectively and interregionally; the debate will thus be addressed by the partners of highways, Italo and the port system. The development of the territories, on the other hand, will be the focus of the discussion between the mayors of Piacenza Patrizia Barbieri, Bergamo Giorgio Gori and Achille Variati; the meeting will be moderated by the editor of the Giornale di Vicenza Luca Ancetti. “Manufacturing values: business and the paradigm shift” will be one of the topics addressed by Confindustria Vicenza President Luciano Vescovi. Another hot topic of the period is that related to Facebook: the director of Tg La7 Enrico Mentana, will thus propose a comparison between social and old TV. There will be no shortage of political topics, although, given the current situation, the organizers have not invited government officials. In any case, 5-Star Movement MP Emilio Carelli, Leghist Roberto Maroni, and Corriere della sera editor Luciano Fontana will ask whether it is possible to talk about the Third Republic. The phenomenon of Salvini’s League will be put in the spotlight by journalist Oscar Giannino. In closing, playwright Stefano Massini, consultant to the Piccolo teatro di Milano and author of the play “Lehman Trilogy,” will present the reading “Predicting the Economy, Interpreting Dreams. From Lehman to Freud.”
