Selections are now open for residency scholarships to participate in the BookLab of Business Literature Prize 2024, a special program dedicated to undergraduate students of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in the humanities to learn about and explore the world of business through the latest publishing productions. Selected students will be able to participate in meetings with the authors nominated for the Prize and become part of the Jury of Readers that will decide the winner on November 9, 2024. The Enterprise Literature Award aims to encourage publishing productions, with particular attention to the quality of writing, that tell and analyze the peculiarities of the Italian production system with the aim of promoting a “new narrative” of entrepreneurial systems attentive to the issues of production, labor andinnovation.

The Business Literature Award is sponsored by ItalyPost and The Economy of Corriere della Sera, in partnership with auxiell, Fine Foods & Pharmaceuticals and Manini Prefabricati. Students who will participate in the Business Literature Prize BookLab:

  • will receive the nominated books in digital format;
  • will participate in meetings with the 5 finalist authors and the award ceremony as part of Bergamo Città Impresa-Festival of Industrial Territories (Nov. 8-10, 2024);
  • will rightfully become part of the Jury of Readers that will decide the winning book on November 9, 2024;
  • will also be able to take part in the meetings scheduled for the Enterprise City Festival (the program is being finalized and will be posted on this website in the coming weeks).

Scholarships to participate in the Business Literature Award BookLab.

The Enterprise Literature Prize looks with particular attention to the involvement of young people from Italian universities, to whom it intends to offer a unique opportunity for meeting, exchange and training. To this end, the organization is offering a select number of university students the opportunity to apply for residence grants to access the Business Literature Prize BookLab. The deadline to send in your application is Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Business Literature Award

The purpose of the Award is to foster cultural growth by promoting a modern business culture capable of stimulating the development of the Italian industrial fabric and in particular of SMEs, while respecting an ethic shared by all, entrepreneurs and managers, workers and stakeholders, each for his or her own role and responsibilities. In the belief that a general system of recognized values and identity is the starting point for building a new future together. The five finalist books among the fourteen nominees for the 2024 edition of the Business Literature Prize are as follows:

  • Simona Baldelli, The Well of Dolls (Sellerio)
  • Marco Bentivogli, Fire the bosses (Rizzoli)
  • Salvatore Giannella, Michele Ferrero (Salani)
  • Giuseppe Lupo, Misunderstood Modernity (Marsilio)
  • Sebastiano Mondadori, Family Truths. Rewriting the story of Alberto Mondadori. (Theseus’ Ship)

The winning book will be decreed by the Jury of Readers – composed of 100 students, undergraduates and doctoral students from relevant faculties and 100 entrepreneurs, managers and representatives of business associations – on Saturday, November 9, 2024 as part of Bergamo Città Impresa.

Bergamo Enterprise City – Festival of Industrial Territories

Since 2008, Festival Città Impresa has been a place for debate on issues related to the development of businesses and territories. It takes place in two iconic cities: in Vicenza, in spring, and in Bergamo, in autumn. Now in its seventh edition, Bergamo’s Festival Città Impresa is committed, as it is every year, to be a venue for debate on politics, economics and society and to tell the story of industrial territories. THE THEME OF THE 2024 EDITION. Bergamo Città Impresa, a festival of industrial territories, during the 2024 edition will invite reflection on the ongoing transition in the economy and business. The title of this year’s edition will be:

WHAT CHANGES THE AMERICAN VOTE. TECHNOLOGY, SUSTAINABILITY, GLOBAL COMPETITION, AND THE ROLE OF EUROPE

The year 2024 is a year in which the world geopolitical situation is at the center of public debate, both because of numerous elections on the calendar and ongoing conflicts. What are the impacts on the economy and businesses? The Festival, which will be held very few days after the elections in the United States and 5 months after the European elections, will try to answer these major questions, involving strategic production sectors such asautomotive, the labor market, public administration and the new areas introduced byartificial intelligence, through in-depth discussions between entrepreneurs, economists and representatives of institutions. The program will also focus on many other topical issues for the business world: technological and economic advances, and in particular artificial intelligence, digitization, ecological transition andinformation. During the three-day festival in Bergamo, these transformations will be discussed extensively, offering audiences interested in the development of businesses and territories food for thought to address the future of our country.

Benefits for participants in the Enterprise Literature Award Booklab

The Business Literature Prize BookLab is providing 100 living grants that include:

  • preferential access and reserved seats at the events of the Business Literature Prize, with the possibility of direct dialogue with the speakers at the end of the meetings, in particular:
    • presentation of the finalist books (Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9, 2024)
    • award ceremony (Saturday, November 9, 2024)
  • accommodation in multiple rooms (triple/quadruple) in contracted facilities for the entire duration of the stay (nights of Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9, 2024);
  • Fixed menu lunches and dinners in facilities that will be indicated by the organization;
  • Transfers from hotel facilities to Festival venues (where necessary);

The living scholarships cover 50 percent of the organization costs. To confirm their participation in the event, students selected for the living grant are required to pay a participation fee of 240 euros. Travel expenses to and from Bergamo are the responsibility of the selected students. At the end of the event, and only upon actual participation in 12 of the scheduled events, an official certificate of participation will be issued.

120 EURO BOOK VOUCHER

All students who confirm participation will be given a voucher worth 120 euros to request books freely chosen based on their interests from an extensive list of titles both related to business culture topics and general topics useful for the participants’ specialized training.

How to apply for residence

The Business Literature Prize BookLab is making 100 living grants available. To apply, simply fill out the form available by clicking here by Sunday, October 13, 2024. Selected students are expected to follow the program of events that will be defined by the organization and to actively take part in the activities scheduled during the two-day event. Applications will be selected at the sole discretion of the event’s organizational management; applications will be selected and approved weekly until all available places are filled. Our staff will provide the selected students with all information regarding board, lodging and the schedule of appointments, and will communicate how to make the payment of the participation fee.
