Description of the Award
The Award aims to encourage editorial productions, with particular attention to the quality of writing, that recount and analyze the peculiarities of the Italian production system with the aim of promoting a “new narrative” of entrepreneurial systems with particular attention to the themes of production, labor and innovation. The Award aims to foster cultural growth, promoting a modern business culture capable of stimulating the development of the Italian industrial fabric and in particular of SMEs, while respecting an ethic shared by all, entrepreneurs and managers, workers and stakeholders, each for their own role and responsibilities. In the belief that a general system of recognized values and identity is the starting point for building a new future together.
Work selection method
The call for entries is issued on the web, sent to publishing houses and public and private research institutions. Already published texts and unpublished works, available in electronic or paper format, will be eligible for selection. Entrepreneurs, managers and young undergraduates will be actively involved in the process of evaluation and selection of works in the competition and invited to be part of the “Readers’ Jury.” The competition will examine texts of fiction, non-fiction, biographies and business histories, without dwelling on the category they belong to. The nominated works will compete for the Prize; only one work will be the winner among all entries. The Prize will be awarded to works published between October 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023. Failure to meet the release date or any change in the work between the date of submission and the date of publication may be legitimate grounds for exclusion of the work from the final selection.
Organization of the Prize
The Business Literature Prize is overseen by the Prize Directorate, reporting to ItalyPost. The program and chronology of events, including the date of the final ceremony, are determined by the Directorate year by year. Attendance in the presence of the authors at the Award Ceremony is mandatory, under penalty of exclusion from the final selection of the Award. The Committee of Selectors, which selects the finalist works, will make its decision by May 30 of the year following the year in which the nomination is submitted, and the Jury of Readers will be asked to vote by November as part of the Bergamo Enterprise City Festival, which will be the occasion for the Award Ceremony.
Special Mentions
Each of the 5 finalist books will be given a special mention. These mentions will be presented during the award ceremony to be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Bergamo Città Impresa Festival.
Awards
The Prize will consist of:
- Purchase of 30 copies for each title in the five finalist list
- Purchase of an additional 50 copies of the winning book
Selection bodies
Selectmen’s Committee. The Board of Selectors constitutes the Jury of the Prize. Reader’s Jury
Applications are now open to join the Jury of Readers, which will be called upon to participate in the voting to declare the winners of the Business Literature Prize on November 9, 2024 in Bergamo, Italy. Each year, the Technical Committee appoints a Jury of Readers composed of 200 members from among entrepreneurs, professors, representatives of business associations and research institutes, and young undergraduates from faculties relevant to the themes of the Prize, who meet the criterion of geographic distribution, which must be nationally representative, and the quotas of belonging to a professional and disciplinary field identified by the Committee of Selectors. By applying to be a member of the Readers’ Jury, you will receive the 5 finalist volumes of the Enterprise Literature in electronic format for evaluation, be able to take part in meetings with the semifinalist authors who will present their books at the Enterprise City Festival in Vicenza, March 22-24, and in all scheduled debates. The book presentation meetings with the finalists will be held on the afternoon of Friday, November 8, and the morning of Saturday, November 9, 2024, in Bergamo. The Jury of Readers will be asked to participate in an in-person vote in Bergamo on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, to declare the winner of this fourth Edition of the Business Literature Prize. Entries are open until September 29, 2024.
Award Regulations
Participation in the Prize is free of charge. Texts must be written in the Italian language. By applying for the Prize, the author of the text accepts the irrevocable judgment of the Technical Committee, the Committee of Selectors and the Jury of Readers. In addition to implicit acceptance of these regulations, applying for the Prize implies participation in the events organized by the Prize and in the closing ceremony.
Participation requirements
All works, whether non-fiction or literature, in print or electronic media, produced between October 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023, with the theme of business organization, human resources, production and labor at their core, are eligible to apply for the Business Literature Prize. When submitting their application, publishers or authors wishing to participate in the competition must send, using the appropriate form (at the end of the announcement), the pdf version of the volume and send 5 hard copies of the work with delivery by January 20, 2024 (the date of delivery at the headquarters of the organizing secretariat will be the date of delivery). Copies of the works must be sent free of charge and will not be returned. The nominated works will be reviewed by the Technical Committee, which will select 12 works by February 27, 2024 and submit them to the Selectors’ Committee to choose the five finalists. Publishers or authors who make the shortlist of 12 works will be required to send an additional 25 copies of the finalist volumes, free of charge, to the Prize Management, who will deliver them to each member of the Committee of Selectors, to the Prize Promoters or use them for public relations activities. The Award Management will be responsible for getting the five finalist volumes, in digital format, to the 200 anonymous members of the Jury of Readers, chosen from among entrepreneurs, managers, undergraduate and graduate students identified by the Management.
Mode of selection
Each member of the Selectors’ Committee may report by December 31 to the Award Management from a minimum of three to a maximum of five works that he or she deems worthy of participating in the Award. By February 27, the Technical Committee will verify the eligibility of all works nominated for the Prize and compile a shortlist of 12 works. The works will then be sent by the Award Management to the Selectors’ Committee. The Selectors Committee will meet on March 24 to proceed with the selection of the five finalist books. At the time of voting, each member of the Selectors’ Committee, including the Chairman, will declare by open ballot the five works, from among the 12 admitted by the selectors, that he or she considers worthy of being shortlisted as finalists. The five works that collect the highest number of votes from the Selectors’ Committee will be the finalists. In the event of a tie between two or more works for fifth place, a new round of voting will take place among only the titles competing for fifth place; the work with the highest number of votes will enter the finalist five. The selection of the finalist five will take place during the Vicenza Enterprise City Festival (on March 24, 2024). The authors of the 12 books selected by the Technical Committee will be invited to present their works on the two days prior to the vote of the Selectors’ Committee at the Vicenza Enterprise City Festival on March 22- 23, 2024. Attendance at the Enterprise City Festival is a prerequisite for joining the five winners. Travel, board and lodging expenses are covered by the Award organization. The 5 finalist works will then be presented to the public the evening before the award ceremony, at the Bergamo Enterprise City Festival.
Award ceremony
The award ceremony for the Enterprise Literature Prize will take place during the Festival Città Impresa 2024 in Bergamo, Italy (November 9, 2024). Except in cases of force majeure, the prizes must be collected personally by the winners, under penalty of automatic exclusion from the final selection of the Prize.

Code of Conduct for Juries
Jurors are required to abide by a “Code of Conduct” that includes adherence to the principles of Objectivity and Independence of Judgment. In order to ensure that all candidates are judged by the same standards, the jurors undertake to ensure objective analysis of the texts, avoiding the possibility that the judging activity may be influenced by subjective impressions or professional conditioning. To this end, members of the Jury whose professional role in companies whose references are present in the materials examined and configure a conflict of interest with the works in the competition are required to refrain from judging.
